A smoothie before or after sport?

Before for energy, after to recover. Here’s how to choose without overthinking it.

Strawberry smoothie on exercise machine

Before: light and easy to digest

If you’re moving within the hour, keep it simple. A fruity smoothie with water or light milk is often enough to avoid a slump.

After: recover without reaching for a snack

After exercise, the goal is to rehydrate and get good nutrients back in. If you’re very hungry, add a source of protein or a yoghurt.

The right choice for the moment

  • Before a session, if you like fresh and light: Orange or Yellow
  • After a session, for red-fruit lovers: Red or Burgundy
  • After a walk or an active day, in a green version: Green or Forest
Simple tip: if your session is long, have your smoothie afterwards. If you set off on an empty stomach, have it before.
